Queens

Jennifer Fuller, Delta Sigma Phi
Since becoming a Husky in 2007, I have found myself immersed in an environment of challenging academics, defining leadership, and a diverse community. I have striven to continually improve myself and my campus community through mentoring and campus involvement. Supporting Tech both in athletics and in the professional world, I'm always eager to bleed black, silver, and gold. I would be proud and honored to represent the students of Michigan Tech as 2009 homecoming queen.

Natalie Minott, Sigma Tau Gamma
I believe I would represent Michigan Tech well as the 2009 Homecoming Queen because of my passion for the university. Attending Michigan Tech has given me so many wonderful experiences to help me grow as a person. I want to get involved in as much as I can during college because this period of my life only happens once, and it shapes the person I will be in the future. Being voted Homecoming Queen will give me yet another perspective of the community; one where I can show what Michigan Tech is all about: academic excellence in a close-knit community surrounded by the beauty of the Upper Peninsula.

Keara Scott, First Year Experience Learning Community
I would be a good representative of Michigan Tech as Homecoming Queen because I really love this campus and its students. I feel that Michigan Tech has become a second home and family to me while I've been here. I put academics first but still remember to have a good time and enjoy college life. I am also very involved on campus with all different forms of organizations and services. I feel that if I won Homecoming Queen it would give me a great opportunity to give back to the Tech community since it's given so much to me.

Beth Geerer, Phi Kappa Tau
I feel I would be a good representative of Michigan Tech because I have a passion for communications, working as a supervisor for admissions telecounseling. I provide leadership to others through my involvement as a captain on the track and field team, but I believe in leading by example and hold myself to a high standard of commitment in not just athletics but also my academics. I hold a 3.2 in Biomedical Engineering and recognize the challenging curriculum that Michigan Tech affords its students to prepare them for success. I love being involved and feel that doing so has enriched my college experience (I often find that I wish I had a no filter when asked to take on extra tasks). I appreciate the opportunities that Michigan Tech has given me to work with my peers and inspire others to see what Michigan Tech can offer them. Being a representative of Michigan Tech as Homecoming Queen would give me just one more opportunity in which I can represent the school which has given me so much.

Kings

Chad Girard, Mama's Boys
I believe that I am a good representative of Michigan Tech because of the balance that I have maintained while here. It takes a great deal to succeed here at Michigan Tech, especially when involved in various organizations. I have been heavily involved around campus in Housing and Residential Life, Greek Life as the president of Triangle Fraternity and also as a full time Civil Engineering student. I enjoy the constant challenge of balancing my responsibilities at a student, as a President, as an RA, and finally, as a person.Michigan Tech has given me a community to belong to and to get involved in. The community at Tech has taught me that there is more to life than just making grades so one can get that dream career with a large paycheck. Tech has been all about the journey to me. Yes, it does lead to the goal of becoming a professional in the world, but it is also about building the relationships that make life worth-while.

Aaron Tetzloff, Alpha Xi Zeta
I would make a good representative as the Michigan Tech Homecoming King because I am a well-balanced student that is active on campus in several organizations. Academically, I have worked hard as a mechanical engineering student, achieving a 3.59 GPA while working towards both a Product Design and Spanish minor along with my degree. As part of both the Crew and Varsity Track and Field Teams, I have represented Michigan Tech athletics, competing against GLIAC competition and other schools in the Midwest. Lastly, I have represented Michigan Tech through my involvement with several activities on campus and in the community through Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity including event participation during Homecoming, Winter Carnival and Spring Fling. I feel that running for Homecoming King is another way in which I can positively contribute to the successful image that Michigan Tech already displays.

Corey Cousino, Theta Chi Epsilon
As a Homecoming King, I think it is best to choose a representative that is both involved in the community (on and off campus), and also demonstrates excellent character and values. Over the last three years at Michigan Technological University, I have been very active across all domains of student life. Through this activity, I have made an impact on those who surround me in a positive manner. As my education at Michigan Tech is coming to a close, I feel more like a role model to young students who enter our university. This is what a Homecoming King should be; A role model for the future.

Joe Gallo, Women's Soccer Club
I would be a good representative of Michigan Tech as the Homecoming King because I feel that I represent what Michigan Tech stands for: Leadership, Excellence, Academics, and Student Involvement. With my past years at Michigan Technological University I have taken advantage of every opportunity that has come my way, while maintaining good grades. Furthermore, these opportunities have allowed me grow into a young, well-rounded leader seeking to enhance their leadership skills in any way possible.I would be a good representative for Michigan Tech because I pride on my ability to build community. As a Resident Assistant my second year, I really pushed the sense of community in my house, because that is what we are all about at Michigan Tech. After being an RA, I knew I wanted to move on and improve everyone's understanding of community, so I moved onto Orientation Team Leader. All students should have that mentality of being part of a community, whether it be with a group of 20 students, or a group of 7000. I pride myself on representing Michigan Tech as a community builder and I hope to bring everyone in with me.
